Journey to Couture

The House Label

Size is irrelevant in couture. After all, there is only one tag in a couture garment, the label of the House.

This blog is about leaving RTW behind, forgetting the notion that a size 6 in RTW is a good "size" to be. Or, should I say, the size I really am not. It is also about learning one sewing technique at a time with the end result of hopefully understanding and successfully applying couture techniques. As I bounce back and forth from home dec projects to fitting issues, I intend to keep my notes here.

Here are some target goals to work toward:
  • Master FFRP techniques to accomplish forward shoulder adjustment, slight sway back and other things I must "admit" I should adjust for!
  • Learn how to apply horsehair
  • Document the projects I sew for Jessie Lee
  • Learn how to achieve the perfect fit.

As an enthusiastic sewist, I am sure this is as good of a time as any to begin jotting down my musings.

Size doesn’t matter. Size doesn’t matter. Size doesn’t matter!
