Rotating the shoulder ala Gigi

Forward Shoulder alteration

Keeping this for another day. I guess this blog is my note taking center. Post-it notes everywhere...

To do the Gigi method of rotating the seam forward: what you take off the front you add to the back. Try putting on a top where you have noticed this problem and march a line of straight pins from the side neck to where the seam *looks* like it should fall....probably about 3/4" in front of where it is now at the armhole. This is your new shoulder seam placement. Add that amount to the back pattern and take away the same amount from the front. Its like a little wedge getting transferred from one side to the other of the seam.

Keep your sleeve center sleeve cap where it was, but now it will be on the back armhole about 3/4" from the shoulder seam, instead of right at the seam. I think if you were to move the notch forward that would be OK too, its just a notch. But what you don't want to do is change the entire grain and fall of your sleeve! You just want to move your shoulder seam forward to accommodate a differently shaped shoulder.
