So many projects
So little time, eh?
--Still trying to pin down my season. It is ridiculous. I'm going to take up Beangirl on her suggestion to try mustard and while I'm at it I'll go ahead sew six tees and do a real live color test using Jalie 965. I have washed the knits, need to trace the pattern next. This will be fun!
--Ordered silk dupioni swatches for my bedroom curtains. Wouldn't you know the gold/red is already sold out. I had ordered a yard of it to make my mind up double sure before laying out that kind of cash on silk, and received a different color than I had swatched. I have been gazing at it for weeks as it is gorgeous but I'm not 100% sure. Found out the original gold/red has sold out, this is the new gold/red. humph. Back to the drawing board... probably green. That will definitely pop.
--The duvet fabric is selected. It is tropical home dec weight. Hope it isn't too heavy. I'll make a white taffeta bed skirt, shams, and new pillow cases out of silk cotton. Luxury, baby!
-Have received my 14 yards of upholstery material plus 1.5 yards of paisley. I already have one yard of coordinating print and a yard of striped fabric. The couch is gonna get a makeover!
--Apparel: one pair of coral cotton sateen pj's, one tan/cream Armani stripe shirt dress, one pair of plaid shorts, maybe a linen jacket and a bias cut linen camisole. Perhaps I should just organize a mini SWAP to keep track of everything and organize it. I also need a new bag.
Well, that is all I can think of to post for now. I'm terrible at keeping my own blog up to date. I've been installing blogs on business websites which has quickly turned me into the shoemaker who didn't have any shoes. Or something like that.

good luck on getting it all sewn up. I should join you on the homedec sew along - I'm about 1/2 way on all my home dec projects, got waylaid and never got back to them. Lots of yardage downstairs waiting to get stitched up.
your choices sound lovely.

Leora, I am wondering what you are using to guide you with reupholstering the couch? I am dying to reupholster mine but don't know where to begin.

Wardeh!! I'm so glad to see you today!
I have the book titled, "Singer Upholstery Basics"
I honestly get brave and do things like buy the fabric and then get fearful and read the book over and over. I wish I had an upholstery buddy, but alas, I do not. LOL

Thanks, Leora. I will look up that book at the library. Yesterday I checked out a whole bunch of Threads issues. One of them has a guide to slipcovering furniture, part 2. It said I would need 25 yards of fabric to do a regular sized couch! Can that be true??? How in the world could I afford that?
Are you slipcovering or reupholstering? I assume there is a difference, but am not sure how to choose what to do.
I am sure you'll be successful at your efforts to redo your couch. You are talented enough to figure it out. I wish I had an upholstery buddy, too. ;) Actually, I wish I had any kind of sewing buddy, someone who lives close by and knows alot... I have sooo many questions!

Wardeh, I am considering what to do. I am fearful of opening it up and finding yucky springs thanks to my small child and his energy level. I don't really want to tackle retying the springs, but then again I do want a nice couch for once. Still thinking it through.
I don't know how any couch would take 25 yards unless it was 45'' fabric. If you search the reviews, there is a very helpful slip cover write up. The gal made it sound too easy! She didn't use a pattern... just draped, pinned and stitched it up.
I was raised in Eugene, Oregon, so not too far from you. Perhaps we can meet someday if I have an opportunity to come home :)

I'm looking at the review right now. There are several and it does sound doable! I really want to do this but I'd have to get a great deal on fabric. And I have alot of other projects going at the moment. This will have to go on the back burner. Perhaps by that time, you'll have done yours and you can talk me through it!
I would love to meet you someday when you get to come home. :D
